Ambuja Cements and ACC Limited come together for COVID 19 relief work

Ambuja Cements Limited and ACC Limited have come together in their fight against the COVID 19, and have jointly contributed Rs 3.30 Crore to NGOs helping migrant workers, underprivileged sections, and slum dwellers affected by the lockdown.

Ambuja Cements and ACC have collectively decided to aid Goonj, Praja Foundation, and Mumbai Roti Bank by providing relief materials and essential items to vulnerable sections, especially to daily wage workers affected by the pandemic.

Today, India, like other countries across the world, is grappling with its worst public health crisis. In times like these, collaborative models are more effective in both containment of the disease as well as support for those whose livelihood and even survival is at risk. We believe that our contributions to these NGOs who are delivering grass-roots relief measures coupled with our own companies’ efforts on the ground working with local communities will greatly accelerate the scale and impact we will have.” Neeraj Akhoury, CEO, Ambuja Cements Limited, was quoted as saying.

The COVID 19 has so far affected around 2.9 million people across 185 nations, with more than 2,00,000 casualties and 8,88,000 recoveries.

Jubilant Bhartia Group Donates 10 Crores to PM Care Fund

Jubilant Bhartia Group has donated Rupees 10 Crore to PM Cares fund with both Jubilant Foodworks Limited and Jubilant Life Sciences Limited donating an amount of 5 Crore each to the fund created to tackle the menace of COVID-19 that has so far claimed more than 2,00,000 lakh lives globally.

The Jubilant Bhartia Foundation (JBF) has been proactively distributing rations, medicines, PPEs, and masks to vulnerable sections, especially migrant workers, senior citizens, and slum dwellers.   

The Foundation has also reached out with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks and sanitizers to healthcare workers and government staff deployed on the ground to ensure the safety and well-being of common citizens.

Earlier, the government of India had announced that any donation made to the newly created PM Cares Fund would come under Corporate Social Responsibility.

Suresh Nanda to offer food to the vulnerable sections affected by the pandemic

At a time when the COVID 19 pandemic has made many jobless and has been termed as a crisis of unparalleled scale taking 2,00,000 lives globally to date, we also see surge in philanthropic activities undertaken by different NGOs, CSR arms of Corporate Sectors, individuals, and others. 

One such addition to the list of philanthropists is the Chairman of Claridges Group of Hotels, Suresh Nanda, who has joined hands with NGOs like the South Women Association to offer free meals to daily workers and other vulnerable sections affected by the pandemic.

Mr. Nanda has also offered to help Second Chance School, Mahipalpur, Delhi, a school established by the NGO Ritinjali, working for the academic growth of underprivileged sections.

“Our hearts go out to all those who are struggling to make their ends meet during these testing times. We are trying our best to support our employees as well as the communities around us. Though the times are tough, it is important that we help each other in every little way we can,” Suresh Nanda was quoted as saying.

Essar Foundation provides food to around 200 million people

Essar Foundation has stepped up to provide around 2
million meals to the vulnerable sections affected by the lockdown imposed
across the country as a precautionary measure against the Coronavirus Disease
that made its maiden appearance in China’s Wuhan in October 2019. 

Essar Foundation, the CSR division of the Essar Group,
has provided 8 lakh meals to disadvantaged sections including daily wage
earners, homeless, and transgenders affected by the lockdown. 

Besides, the Foundation has distributed 150,000 masks,
sanitizers, and 5000 PPE to police personnel, health care workers, BMC staff to
date in its fight against the pandemic. 

“We are fortunate that we can act promptly, in
collaboration with the state machinery, because of our association with the
Government of Maharashtra Corona Control CSR Group. The Essar COVID-19 Relief
Fund will continue to support marginalised and vulnerable groups of people
pan-India,” Kaustubh Sonalkar,
CEO-Essar Foundation & Group President-Corporate HR was quoted as saying.

Walmart, Flipkart to spend Rs 46 crore towards COVID 19 relief fund

Walmart, Flipkart, and Walmart Foundation
have pledged to donate Rs 46 Crore in its fight against the COVID 19 where the
amount would be spent in procuring masks, PPE, medical gowns for the health
care workers.

Besides, Walmart Foundation would be
donating Rs 7.7 crore to organisations like Goonj and Srijan actively involved
in supplying relief materials like food, masks, sanitizers, medicines to the
vulnerable sections especially farmers, migrant workers affected by the
pandemic.

“In times like these, we all need to come
together to support our communities and the efforts of healthcare workers,
NGOs, and government organizations. We are grateful to all those providing
relief in India and we want to help”, Kathleen McLaughlin, Executive Vice
President and Chief Sustainability Officer for Walmart and President of the
Walmart Foundation was quoted as saying.

Indus Towers donates 35 Crores to the PM-Cares Fund

Indus Towers has donated Rs 35
Cores to the PM-Cares Fund in its fight against the Coronavirus Disease that
has rattled the globe since its first inception in October 2019 in the city of
Wuhan, China.

Besides, the employees of the organization
have voluntarily stepped up to distribute masks, sanitizers, full-body suits,
gloves to health care professionals, police personnel and other administrative
personnel leading from the front in the nation’s fight against an unprecedented
health crisis of decades.

“We are humbled to contribute towards the
PM-CARES Fund and laud the government’s efforts in managing the current
situation. In these extraordinary times, I also want to acknowledge our field
force who are committed to Putting India First by providing seamless
connectivity to the society.”,  Bimal
Dayal, the CEO, Indus Towers, was quoted as saying.

Headquartered in Gurgaon, Indus Towers
provides infrastructural services like tower installations to various telecom
operators and wireless service providers across the country.

Bosch India contributes Rs 50 crore towards COVID 19 fund

Bosch India has committed to donating an
amount of Rs 50 crore to combat the COVID-19 crisis with Rs 5 crore going to
the PM Cares Fund and Rs 45 crore spent towards various philanthropic programs
aimed at helping the vulnerable sections amidst nationwide lockdown.

 The
organization has been serving meals to poor and needy especially to around
4,000 migrant workers in its Bidai plant as many migrant workers couldn’t go
home with the immediate halt of rails and buses since March 24 after the Prime
Minister announced national lockdown as a precautionary step against community
transmission of the COVID 19 virus.

As per the reports, Bosch India has
distributed ration to 1500 families amidst the crisis caused by the pandemic
that has taken more than 1,50,000 lives globally.

ReNew Power reaches out to vulnerable amidst pandemic

ReNew Power would be contributing an
amount of Rs 10 crore to the PM Cares Fund and Rs 5 crore to various Chief
Minister Relief Funds aimed at tackling COVID 19 menace.

Committing a total sum of Rs 20 crore,
ReNew Power would also dole out towards the distribution of ration items to
vulnerable sections around its sites with the assistance of local
administrative bodies.

The organization has been proactively
reaching out to help the affected people especially the migrant workers across
its sites in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu,
Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra besides adopting a village in Haryana
where around 350 families would be given essential items

Samsung India donates Rs 15 crore to the PM Cares fund

Samsung India has pledged a donation of Rs 15 crore to the PM Cares Fund and Rs 5 crore to the state of Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh in its fight against the COVID19.

Besides, Samsung will match its employee’s contribution to the PM Cares fund and donate an equal amount to the fund so that the amount could be utilized in tackling the menace posed by the pandemic across the country.

The Indian unit of South Korean multinational conglomerate has also provided PPE kits including Surgeon Gown, Face Mask, Gloves, Preventive Eyewear, Hood Cap and Shoe Cover to hospitals, especially across Noida.

Government of India had recently announced that the amount donated to the PM Cares fund would come under the Corporate Social Responsibility thereby encouraging the Corporate houses to step up at the time when it matters the most.

JSPL Foundation comes to the rescue of migrant workers in Odisha

The latest entrant to the COVID 19 warrior
group is the JSPL Foundation –the CSR arm of the Jindal Steel & Power Ltd –
with its community sensitization drive on social distancing, or free food
distribution drive across parts of Odisha such as Angul, Barbi, and Tensa
regions.

The volunteers from the foundation have
been actively offering cooked and dry foods to the vulnerable sections
especially the migrant workers or truck drivers who have lost work owing to the
nationwide lockdown operational since March 24. 

Besides, products like hand sanitizer,
soaps, and masks are being donated by the volunteers of the foundation so that
the people could maintain personal health and hygiene required as a
precautionary step against the virus.

As per the reports, the JSPL foundation has so far distributed around 2,00,000 meals across three districts of Odisha under its flagship program ‘Mission Zero Hunger’.
