Companies will soon be eligible to procure Covid-19 vaccines for employee and family immunization campaigns and eliminate the cost from their corporate social responsibility expenditure.
Earlier in January, the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA) permitted the funds spent on awareness programmes and public outreach campaigns regarding the Covid-19 vaccination drive, to be classified as corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity.
Multinational enterprises such as Reliance Industries, Accenture, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services have stated that they would pay the cost of vaccines for deserving staff and family members who want to take the shot.
According to a government official, the government would issue guidelines in the form of commonly asked questions about how much spending can be considered as part of a company’s CSR responsibilities as long as it is part of a community-based vaccine initiative.
