Delhi Management Association (DMA) hosted a workshop on CSR Act and Implications for
Companies to create awareness and disseminate information about the CSR Act and notified
amendments so far, while elaborating on the various aspects of execution by the companies and its
implications for the companies.
The workshop was conducted under the aegis of CSR and Sustainability Committee of DMA, chaired
by Dr Neelam Gupta, Founder President and CEO of AROH Foundation. Gayatri Subramaniam, a CSR
professional and Director, Association for Women in Business, and Nikhil Pant, Principal Consultant
& CDO, REACHA joined as the key speakers.
In her welcome address and opening remarks, Dr Neelam Gupta said, “Challenges like climate
change, global warming, depletion of natural resources, unequal distribution of resources and
ongoing issues of poverty and inequality, and now the current COVID pandemic, have made us
understand that profitable growth of companies depends on the economic, environmental, and
social sustainability of the communities they serve. And the businesses today realize that it is in their best interest to contribute to the sustainability of these communities. CSR is not a choice any more, but an imperative”.
Gayatri Subramaniam enlightened the audience through a comprehensive presentation elucidating
the genesis, evolution and voyage of CSR Act in India. She further stated how CSR act was framed to
reduce the gaps between the ‘Haves’ and ‘Have not’s’, especially post-covid, which has worsened
the situation in the society, it shall create a “Covid-specialised vertical” winged out of present CSR framework.
An educating question answer session by Nikhil Pant further nurtured the audience to resolve
various queries regarding the CSR implications and arbitrate further courses in their businesses and
Dr Rajan Pandhi, Director DMA, thanked the distinguished panelists and the participants in his
valedictory remarks for an interactive and stimulating session and assured the audience that DMa
would be taking up more such initiatives and knowledge sharing sessions for the benefit of CSR
