Media and entertainment house Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has announced that it has
handed over critical healthcare equipment to West Bengal, in line with its national Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) drive against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company stated that 20 oxygen humidifiers have been donated by utilizing the sanctioned CSR
budget for fight against Covid-19, in the presence of IAS officer Narayan Swaroop Nigam, secretary –
Health and Family Welfare department of West Bengal government.
“ZEE is committed to stand with the West Bengal Government in its fight against Covid-19. We hope that the donated critical equipment will help the state to address the challenges faced due to the ongoing pandemic and strengthen its overall healthcare infrastructure,” Punit Goenka, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ZEEL said in a statement issued here.
In a letter issued to ZEEL, Narayan Swaroop Nigam Said, “We express sincere thanks on behalf of the
Government of West Bengal to ZEEL for its kind gesture of contributing critical healthcare equipment to West Bengal. The support provided will go a long way in providing proper treatment to Covid-19 affected patients in the state.”
In its national level CSR drive towards enhancing the country’s healthcare infrastructure against Covid-19, ZEE had committed to donate over 240 ambulances, over 46,000 PPE kits, over 90 oxygen humidifiers, and 6 lakh daily meals. The donation to West Bengal is in line with this national level CSR drive.
At a national level, ZEE has also financially supported over 5000 Daily Wage Earners working directly or indirectly with the Company. Further, over 3400 employees have contributed towards PM CARES Fund. The amount generated was matched by ZEEL, and the collective proceeds were donated to PM CARES Fund.
