Qatar’s leading telecommunications company Ooredoo on Saturday held a beach clean-up
programme, to raise awareness on environment conservation.
The third such event was held at Sealine beach on September 19, coinciding with World Clean-up
Day.
Organized in partnership with Friends of the Environment Center, Ooredoo Beach Clean-up
initiative was intended to inspire beachgoers to tidy up after themselves and take responsibility for
removing any trash left behind, a release issued by the company stated.
It added that with all established safety procedures, Ooredoo workers visited the beach and cleaned
up everything “not part of the natural environment.”
An essential aspect of the drive was a clean-up of the sea bed as well as the beach to ensure no
pollution is found in water that could damage marine life.
To safely clean up the seabed, Ooredoo provided the necessary cleaning kits and visibility vests.
Six professional scuba divers from Doha Divers Team joined the Ooredoo staff for the clean-up drive.
Director PR at Ooredoo, Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, said the initiative stems from the company’s
commitment to promoting the protection of our environment, in keeping with both its corporate
responsibility strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“We are rightly proud of the many participants who give up their time to support the initiative,
despite the challenging weather conditions of late summer, and thank them yet again for all their
hard work and effort.” Al Kuwari said.
