Many popular names from India Inc
and Bollywood stepped up with contributions at a time when the entire country
is grappling with the Corona pandemic. Some donated directly to PM Cares Fund
created by the PM Modi recently while some have been helping people directly.

IT giant Azim Premzi has pledged to
donate 1000 crores towards tackling the threat posed by the COVID 19
pandemic.
Besides, he also said that his Azim
Premzi Foundation’s employees will work in tandem with the government and
health workers collectively in helping the patients or people affected by the
pandemic.

Not only Premji, many other big guns
have stepped up in the times when the nation needs them the most. India’s
wealthiest person Mukesh Ambani has pledged to donate Rs 500 crore towards the
PM Cares fund besides donating Rs 5 crore each to Gujarat CM Relief Fund and
Maharashtra CM Relief Fund.
Tata Trust has committed to spend a
whopping Rs 500 crore towards protective gears, ventilators, testing kits,
treatment centers and training healthcare workers.

Apart
from industrialists and corporate giants, many celebrities have risen to the
occasion in the times of pandemic either by donating to the government relief
funds or by directly helping the affected people.

Bollywood
actor Akshay Kumar transferred a massive sum of Rs 25 crore to the PM Cares
Fund while Salman Khan decided to help 25,000 daily workers from the film
industry by directly transferring amounts to their bank accounts. Singer
Guru Randhwa pledged an amount of Rs 20 lakh to the PM Cares Fund while
actor Varun Dhawan said he would be donating an amount of Rs 30 lakh to the
fund created to tackle the COVID 19 crisis.

India
is currently under a 21-day lockdown as a social distancing measure taken by
the government to contain the threat posed by COVID 19 which has so far
affected around 2900 people across the country with 68 fatalities.
