UnitedHealth Group has pledged to donate
$10 million to fight the COVID-19 menace, especially where it operates its
healthcare businesses like Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Ireland, Peru,
Philippines, and Portugal.
The Group would aid the health service
workers, the underprivileged sections grappling with hunger or homelessness
owing to the global lockdown imposed in most parts of the globe as a
precautionary measure against the spread of the virus.
“COVID-19 is a global health emergency and
UnitedHealth Group is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of people
around the world,” Dave Wichmann, Chief Executive Officer, UnitedHealth Group
was quoted as saying.
“This additional investment of $10 million
will support that effort and builds on our commitment to deploy our in-country
resources, deep clinical expertise, and our compassionate team to support those
in need at this unprecedented time,” he added.
